For this event Dr. Aanka Batta offers a poetic delivery on Decolonisation of the Arts and Education; an exploration of how the arts and education are shaped by imperial legacies and how we might attempt at decolonising them. We also launch our Rising Voices initiative, a writers development programme for Dorset-based writers of colour, a series of workshops that ends with two showcases: one at the Palace Court Theatre in Bournemouth and one at the MAST theatre in Southampton in June 2023.
Come for a journey through imperial history, delivered poetically, and witness what we are doing to challenge set/imperial/colonial ways of doing art in the Dorset area!
Free event, drinks and snacks served, reserving ticket advised.
Lecture open to all, enrolment open to Dorset-based writers of colour at all levels of writing!
